Dear Mom, With Hard Boiled Egg

We took my mom out for a birthday dinner tonight. (I had a coupon for the Asian noodle place that she likes – bonus!) We enjoyed our noodles & rice, and C enjoyed his squash & Puffs that JJ kept giving him. (He’s getting good at picking up the Puffs and putting them in his mouth now.)

My parents are some of the people I respect most in this world. (If I could have a positive impact on my children like my parents have had on me, I will consider myself successful. My parents attribute much of their “success” to prayer, so I pray as much as I can for my children.) Every time we spend time with them, Tom and I find ourselves talking about how great they are and how we’d like to be more like them.

Some of the things I love about my mom are

- She is always optimistic.
- She is always willing to listen to me ramble on about my life and always interested in what I am doing.
- She is teachable and strives to be a better person.
- She loves Jesus and has been seeking to know Him and follow Him as long as I can remember.
- She is encouraging!
- She is honest with me and takes time to help me grow.
- She knows all my flaws and loves me anyway.
- She loves the Buffalo Bills.
- She has given up years and years of her life to serve and teach teenagers about English, making them better people even if they don’t realize it. She loves and cares for each of them more than they know. I wish that she could see the impact she has had on so many.
- She loves my kids and my sister’s kid(s) and always makes time for them.
- She is loyal to her family and friends.
- She loves my dad. I continually am impressed with how she puts him first and does things that she knows are important to him.
- She is FUN!
- She eats food way past its expiration date and doesn’t care.

There are lots of things I love about her…these are only a few…but I feel blessed to be her daughter, and I’m so glad that we’ve had another year here together. Happy (belated) birthday, Mom! :)
